hahahahhaaa. i just want to let you know. i am madly in love with you. harry potter quidditch world cup is my favorite game ever made. number one. and number two, verdi’s requiem mass is possibly my favorite piece of music ever written. and that movement is very well know, its true, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with loving it and celebrating its epic-ness. she’s good in more lyric roles but coloratura is not for her at all, especially compared to joan sutherland and maria callas. i like cecilia bartoli, her coloratura is pretty good but she tends to scream her high notes. lol i am so critical.

my singing teacher wants me to eventually try it out but idk how it’ll work out. i can sing coloratura pretty well but i have a heavier voice than most of the sopranos who sing lucia. do you like any modern singers?

she has a very nice voice but her technique is pretty horrendous, imho. i just don’t dig her whole “wannabe callas” thing. dessay, i agree with you. her voice is a bit too shrill. i like damrau, her queen of the night is pretty fierce.
damrau is SO fierce. i never use that word, but she so is. netrebko definitely wants to be like callas. its clear.

i’m bitter i wasn’t around for some live callas action. i love birgit nilsson but i’m not a big fan of wagner since italian opera > every other opera.
SO TRUE GAHHHHHHH i do NOT love wagner at all! he’s so annoying and i feel like his music all sounds da same! and its not difficult to sing- sounding. you know? no coloratura passages, nuffin. i love love love italian opera.
wagner’s a bitch to sing since it’s soo heavy and long but it does sound the same in lots of parts. sometimes he gets moments of brilliance like in the ride of the valkyries but that’s about it. i love singing coloratura, it’s so fun.
